Undergraduate researcher interested in polymer chemistry and functional materials.
I am an undergraduate student in Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Florida. My academic and research interests center on polymer chemistry, sustainable materials, and the modification of polymers for new applications.
My research examines how polymers can be chemically modified after they are made to give them new properties. I work with a polymer that can be changed to carry either positive or negative charge. The goal is to understand how the way these materials are prepared affects their structure, solubility, and potential use in charged polymer systems.
I plan and conduct polymer modification experiments, prepare reactions under controlled conditions, and adjust variables to improve consistency and conversion. I also purify the resulting materials and use techniques including nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, infrared spectroscopy, and thermal analysis to determine how the polymers changed during the reaction.
